in this time of excitement, new knights popping up everwhere, the rush to get a master is on, or so it would seem. I see students at eachothers throats over this subject from time to time, yet the one thing the knights/trainers/council members frown on is this very thing. well here are a few guidelines we should all know and follow. If you truly wish to be an official padawan this can be done if you follow my advice to the letter. 1) Dont post ALL OVER the forums conveying your distress that you have not yet found a master, this is something the ranked members seriously dislike and most definately will put you in the 'no way' category. Instead try getting on the servers and going to classes (if you can) to just make some friends (ranked members need friends too) and if you let your true happy self shine this will be quickly picked up on by the ranked members. I mean after all who wants a padawan who whines, moans, and cries to get what they want. Last i checked that behavior stopped at age 5. 2) Availability: now while we all live in some pretty scattered time zones, picking a padawan still holds availability as one of the top reasons for picking a pad. Although me personally, ive picked pads who were total opposite timezones from me but thats cuz the other criteria was more than met. Know that if a ranked member picks you as his padawan more than likely he may not ALWAYS be on to teach you, or he may come on the server to teach some other students how to play aswell. Be courtious and share your master should you get one as you have been in the same position as the students who dont have a master and know how they feel about it. 3) Attitude: This is the biggest part of getting chosen to be someones padawan. If you are very kind and well mannered, you will get chosen over someone who isnt everytime. This means always being willing to help out no matter what the cost to you. Ive actually watched 3 students go at eachother over who would be the better padawan, needless to say none of them became anyones padawans. Padawanship isnt a contest, its the start of a friendship. NOTE* FRIENDSHIP the ranked members dont have to take any padawans at all if they dont wish to so being friendly and having fun are the right attitudes to have if you seriously want to be looked at for it. 4) Being a padawan doesnt make you higher ranked than a student. It means the same as student, nothing more. I have seen some students become padawans, act like a knob about becoming a padawan ("im cool and your not. my master pwns all of you and i pledge my very being to him. if you say something bad about my master i will smash you!"  and then very quickly become a student once again as they were dropped. So know your place and dont be a jerk about being a padawan. Remember the person your a jerk to just might be the next knight and it would kind of suck to have to look over your shoulder for that kind of thing.For now just take it light, have fun, and heed my words of advice, they come from experience. You will get noticed but for now just have fun with everyone including the ranked members. i mean they are somewhat human themselves  if you have a problem ask for help, dont worry about being someones padawan cuz you think its the only way to get good at the game, or become knight faster, or anything like that because thats not the way things happen. if you wish to ask questions about how to become someones padawan, ask them here. *NOTE no students will ANSWER asked questions or this thread will be closed. This is an attempt to get the ranked members to communicate with the students about the common misconceptions of being someones padawan. So ask your questions guys and a ranked member may reply, if not then ill try to give you some guidance. remember.... Burn rubber not your soul... Seconds the alert! One thing I would like to add...the willingness to learn. If you want to become a padawan, a good stepping stone would be to attend classes (if your intended master has classes, make sure to attend those in addition to others). This shows the knights, trainers/masters that you are willing to go a little more into the JA besides just having fun and dueling. Likewise, just as Motrec eloquently said, getting to know the knights and masters in general will make you have a better grasp on who would truly be appropriate for you. Also, ask for advice here and there to get a feel for how your prospective masters teach. And finally, not being someones padawan does not mean you wont improve. I believe that when the time is right and the Force is guiding you, you will find your master in the end.
