TES V: Skyrim - *No Spoilers Please* | |

Cause you know you lurve it!
New info as and when it comes out. So far the release is 11.11.11 which is easy enough to remember and approx 295 days from now. Website Worth a read Four French dudes got 2 and a half hours each on a 3 month old build. Check out the roughly translated impressions here. Skyrim is the homeland of the Nords, the original home of man. As far as I know the game is set around the death of the king which happens at the start of the game. I imagine very much like the death of the Emperor in Oblivion (Skyrim takes place around 200 years after the events of TES IV). You take the role of the last of the Dovahkiin, or Dragon Born, and its up to you to deal with a civil war and some sick dragon thing. Go here for more info: Link SO! I had an idea. How about all of us looking forward to Skyrim get together on TeamSpeak on Nov. 11th? We can chat, have a laugh and discuss our experiences as we play. Anyone wanting to play in silent for a bit is welcome to drop in and out at their leisure. I think it'd be a great excuse to chat with each other again! Well, Skype didn't happen as I was busy that night. Hope everyone's enjoying Skyrim as much as I am. Can I please ask that nobody gives away any spoilers in this topic, please. Be fair to your kinsmen. _______________ -Padawan of Virtue -Brother of Menaxia, *|irael, Krynn Adept, Majno, Ris Win Juljul, DaMi3N, Beowulf, Dash Starlight, Carrock and Yuken Zalak Bartender at Munes bar. Mages don't really live exciting lives in the TES universe. You would think people who could fire out lightning bolts from their hands and reanimate chickens would make the Mage's Guild the Party Guild.
I spent my last few hours decorating Proudspire with the heavy Dwarven metal pieces, collections of weapons I like looking at, gems and armor pieces. I wish they did let you put a few more books in the shelves I hope Solstheim is added in a future expansion _______________ "Deos fortioribus adesse." |

heard a rumor thieves guild is pretty good in this TES game.
only did the starters quest tho. as for mages guild... well it was better than in oblivion, but i fear that it suffered from same flaws. searching for artifacts in dungeons filled with undead. atleast you didnt have to clear 100 dungeons filled with necromancers... and undead. _______________ playing jk3 since 30th of january (2005), member since 1st of february. I switched the difficulty to master and the trolls are the enemies that tend to be most trouble for me. I try fire, but I don't know high level destruction spells so it doesn't do the trick fast enough. _______________ "Deos fortioribus adesse." |

just stagger them with fire damage.
anyway anyone tried level 3 versions of elemental fury, slow time and whirlwind spirit? im curious what they do when mastered. _______________ playing jk3 since 30th of january (2005), member since 1st of february. Frost trolls are harder to kill than dragons _______________ "Deos fortioribus adesse." |

sneak archery blade and all kinds of magic kinda makes my character versatile for most situations.
the only things that kill me are those insane lightning dmg casters (since the projectile flies too fast to dodge) or powerful archers (same as lightning) like dwemer sphere master. at the beginning of the game i usually shot an arrow or two and then switched to spell + blade. summoned fire atronach and then blasted with firebolts with occasional dagger attacks. now however it depends on enemies resistances. armored dudes die fast to all kinds of magic (some are very resistant to some type tho), while some can be taken out with bow. more or less this means pretty much zero contact with enemy. as far as my race choice... it pretty much only helps in brawls lol. night eye is pretty much useless spell in skyrim, unlike oblivion where i kinda used it permanently at some times. ofcourse thats a good thing since watching the whole games beauty in blue color at all times got old pretty quick. _______________ playing jk3 since 30th of january (2005), member since 1st of february. How are you faring with the full mage character? I tried it off the bat, and I was running out of magic quickly. Even with robes on it seemed like magic regenerates pretty slow. I used a chest piece which offers -15% mana cost on all spells used, +50 magicka and 100% extra mana regeneration as well as a mask with 100% extra mana regeneration on it. This helped, but yes, I did run out of mana very quickly - turns out it's much, much more beneficial to stack '-% cost on X school of magic', i.e. destruction usually. For mana efficiency, I would dual cast the '2nd tier' spells such as firebolt. This also staggered my opponents, giving my combat a rhythm as well as offering reasonably sustainable DPS. I also put every single point into Magicka, except for four which went into health. Edit: I've rerolled though as a Breton because they're pretty manly when it comes to taking magic damage in the face, plus I like being human (lolracist). I also wanted to start over with more focus on melee and heavy armour, as it looks cool and I'm all about aesthetics. You'll see what I mean when you get Morokei and a certain set of robes. _______________ Fervent supporter of duelling - leave a message if you would like to battle! Married to Masta. no random dungeons (!!! so far atleast, every dungeon that i visited either had a misc secret, side quest, faction quest, main quest or shout there) Curious - I've emptied many forts and dungeons that only had a bunch of beasts or bandits in them, but it's possible that they might be used for minor quests at some point. thats atleast from my perspective or ... luck. maybe its not as good as im claiming it to be, but compared to oblivions dungeons this is surely an improvement. _______________ playing jk3 since 30th of january (2005), member since 1st of february. what. backstabbing powerful foes, blasting masses with fireballs and spaming arrows on dragons. That was pretty much how I played Oblivion, sounds even better in Skyrim. Quote: crazy stories? my horse tanked 7 dragons, died on his 8th one. Haha you wait, the horse armor mod will have your horse tanking 12 dragons! Quote: the morrowind feel is indeed there - the desolate lands (reminds me of those ash storms a little bit), most races looking grim (dunmer design is exactly like morrowinds imo), heck even heard a soundtrack from morrowind.
This is just what I wanted to hear. I know what you mean about those improvements too. Perhaps the biggest problem with Oblivion was the smaller details, such as the bandits/lack of detail/quests fizzling out etc. It's maybe most impressive that they have managed to make most of the caves/dungeons etc. feel unique in some way. Not easy with a game the size of Skyrim I'm sure. (delayed main story till i was like lvl15. a bit of a mistake, knowing that dragons spawn randomly). finished dark brotherhood - the story tension was a little weirdly balanced, but it really delivered that experience that we loved in oblivion. overall id say quests are really well done and you dont get them in such obvious and poor ways like in oblivion - just thinking about how straightforward, poor and anticlimatic the whole mages guild story was just makes me wonder what they were thinking back then lol. _______________ playing jk3 since 30th of january (2005), member since 1st of february. I've spent HOURS just travelling off the roads and into the wild.
Noticed a few weird bugs (Mammoth's falling from the sky and dying, etc) but man, what a game. I'll be playing this well into 2012. I'm totally neglecting MW3 and Arkham City for this! |
