I would, tbh. But I wouldn't be AS excited for it. The SWKOTOR thing is what makes it so appealing. |

I got the collector's edition pre-order for my birthday. I check my email like 8000 times a day for a beta invite / early access info. |

I haven't pre-ordered because I'm a poor student but I'll definitely be getting it. I had my reservations about the game but I'm hoping it's as good as the beta testers are claiming.
Going to relive my KOTOR days as a smuggler on my main character, and probably play as a consular with the JA players. Goodbye social life! _______________ Former padawan of RoseRed |

Quote: I don't think so.
I wouldn't mind playing on a European server if that's what the JA community wants to do. I just hope they don't make it difficult to do so, like it was w/ WoW. Region locks don't appear to be in, but there hasn't been anything definite from what I've heard so far. I wouldn't mind playing with the JA, but I guessing that my free time will not overlap with the majority of the JA now, so, I'll be playing almost by myself on the JA guild. Weekends may be a different story, hard to tell. _______________ "Do or do not, there is no try" Jedi Master Yoda Dual Saberist |

Quote: Worked for Star Wars Galaxies when that tried that eh?
When SWG came out I played for the first month and quit because it blew. I never saw the CU or anything like that either. Just because something is poorly executed doesn't mean it's a bad idea. Remember--FPSs are successful, and so are straightforward fighting games. JK2 didn't need targeting, neither did Republic Commando, and those were successful enough multiplayer games. I'd just like to see a SW mmo that resembles the movies, not a clone of every other mmo with a SW skin and the cookie-cutter model of tank-healer-dps and characters who can be hit a million times with blaster bolts and still not die. _______________ My signature is only one line. @Javaguy, I'm betting that the majority of TJA (in the TJA guild on SWTOR.com), will be playing on a primarily European server. I will be on an American server, perhaps with an alt on the JA server. _______________ "Do or do not, there is no try" Jedi Master Yoda Dual Saberist |

Quote: Get rid of "targeting." Make ranged combat work like a first-person shooter and melee combat something like one of the better console-system fighting games. Worked for Star Wars Galaxies when that tried that eh? I'm all for them sticking to a winning formula. If they try some revolutionary concept again like SWG there's every chance the more ill-informed (and therefore loudest) members of the playerbase will just throw it back in their face and demand the game be changed to suit them. It's EA so they're going to want to build a game that will keep the maximum level of subscribers possible and I'm fine with that. Plus if it really is just like KOTOR but online then I'm not complaining! _______________ Former padawan of RoseRed |

I'm pretty excited about TORO even though it looks like the game mechanics are just a rehash of every other mmo every made.
A couple things I'd like to see: Get rid of "targeting." Make ranged combat work like a first-person shooter and melee combat something like one of the better console-system fighting games. Change the damage system. One of my all-time pet peeves about RPGs is the idea that as you gain skill levels you gain bazillions of health points. Hey, remember the scene in Ep IV where Chewbacca got hit by a hundred blaster bolts and a couple thermal detonators? I don't remember it either because it didn't happen. A hit should result in either death or injury--real injury, as in you can't use an arm, you limp (or crawl) slowly along, or are completely incapacitated, and it shouldn't just magically heal while you're still in combat. Surviving combat should mostly be a matter of killing the enemy before he can shoot you, not being able to absorb preposterous amounts of damage. Yoda couldn't take any more damage than the average person; he was just impossible to hit. Ditch the Tank-healer-dps formula. That was fine for WoW, and I really like WoW. There weren't any healers in the SW movies, unless you count medical droids and such. Luke didn't magically get his hand restored; he went through surgery. And no opponent is going to attack the tank continually when other players are doing a lot more damage to it. That's just silly. Combat in a SW game should resemble, well, SW. Anybody seen the video where the Sith guy rides on his speeder. Very cool speeder, I concede. He snaps his fingers and his mount appears out of nowhere, then he rides his super-high-tech speeder at about the speed of a bicycle to where he's going, and when he dismounts it disappears into thin air. I'm trying to remember which SW movie I remember that from. It's from...It's from...Just a second and I'll remember it...Oh yeah, it's from every other mmo, not from SW at all. Okay, all that having been said, you'll probably see me online the very day it comes out. Can we all agree on a server when it's released? _______________ My signature is only one line. I pre-ordered with Amazon.com within an hour of the announcement, without any problems. As for the price, I do agree it is a bit much, but since I rarely buy video games, it will probably be the last game I'll buy for the rest of the year.
I wouldn't be surprised if the EU had some pre-order issues. I don't trust digital download stores like Origin at all. _______________ "Do or do not, there is no try" Jedi Master Yoda Dual Saberist |

EA are really doing their best to enhance their reputation for greed as a publisher. First off, the selling price is now £45 for the standard edition of the game - hilariously in response, Amazon have cancelled pre-orders that customers had for the title using the excuse of 'it is a different item.' These customers are now having to pre-order again, at an increased price of £10.
Furthermore there has been some abysmal responses to hilarious banking transactions performed in response to the 'early start' pre-order benefit. This situation is strong enough to stay my hand from pre-ordering a copy of TOR unfortunately. Ah well, more time for SC2! Oh yes, and I forgot to mention that your pre-order MAY be honoured. _______________ Fervent supporter of duelling - leave a message if you would like to battle! Married to Masta.
