Dark VS Light Side of the Force

Okay about time I edited this thread after 1/2 year of life.

Can you imagine SW if there was only the Dark or the Light side??? It would *definitely* _STINK_!
However, which is more powerful? I think it's the Dark Side:

=> More Jedi fall to the d/s than Sith/Dark Jedi go to the l/s (MANY more)

=> Look at the duels (in the movies). You see the Sith being calm (prolly fighting more than one Jedi) and the Jedi being ready to shit on themselves :P

=> The d/s force powers are offensive (used to kill  ) whereas the l/s force powers are defensive. And we all know the best defense is offense ;)

=> NORMALLY, when some Jedi fights a Sith the Sith has the Force Power advantage. Not many Jedi can absorb D/S Force Powers. They must be really trained, and that's unusual. OK Yoda is the force beast (I mean he handles the force like no-one else can, hmm, maybe like Palpatine, just maybe, but prolly a bit more) so he was really cool defending against Dooku's force powers. But, see, Dooku was less trained than Yoda in the Force and still he could attack him alright without losing (lightsaber fight is something else, not concerning the Force Sides). So as you can see less trained D/Sers can beat the hell outta a Jedi using the force alone :D :P (don't include Yoda eh)

=> And well, after seeing the movies, haven't you noticed how much cooler the Sith are than the Jedi? :)

******BTW: Who wants to see a Yoda VS Palpatine fight on ep3!!!???******

And that thing score board cmad ur wrong on one thing. obi wan weren't defeated he became one with the force. And remember when Luke asked Obi1 if the dark side is stronger? Obi said that its not. Jedis aren't weak I think dark siders are. Like Dooku he couldn't resist going to the dark side. And Anakin sure he was the one but he was filled with anger. And he needed Palpy as a second master to make it so far. And go under the service of Palpatine.

The Jedi could've taken over the galaxy, there were alot more of them, but the Jedi are peaceful, they don't want to rule the galaxy.

u forgot to mention many l/s jedi against u (a d/s jedi)... u would also staind a chance.

anyway, that line i said ("to know the light u must see the dark";) is wise  because one does not know the peace and all the other stuff the l/s provides, if he doesn't know how the evil and full of lies the d/s is.

too bad i am DEEPLY put into the d/s and i can't return. so the d/s shall prevail!!! :empire: here we go again! lol. I am a quite a bit more evil than Vader. Deep (VERY VERY deep) inside me i am good and polite. However, my character is evil and i am full of lies (Jacen can prove that :D).

Maybe i am like palpatine... no return... no start.

also i think the following is wise: "To know the dark u must see the light". Coz if u haven't seen the l/s u can't see how powerful the force abilities in the d/s are (they r all offensive).

:)

Entirely true. Observe the styles of fighting between the lightside Jedi and the darkside Jedi. You can clearly see that one is based on skill and finesse, the other on strength and power. These are -different- ways of dueling; neither is superior nor inferior. Applying this to Jedi Outcast; If I were fighting several Dark Jedi and I was a Dark Jedi myself, I would likely get my ass whupped. If I were fighting several Dark Jedi and I was a Lightside Jedi, I would stand a fighting chance. It's all about perspective; there is no 'better' or 'stronger' Force.

Further more,
Think of it all this way (in reguards to which side is better)
In the universe There is positive and negative.
With out light there would be no dark. Because there would be nothing to distinguish darkness.
With out darkness, there would be no light, it would just be there. They need to both exsist for even one to exsist.

From reading books,
if i remember correctly;
The sith were an actual race of non humans. When Dark Jedi, discovered there long forgotten teachings. Thus adapting them and began to train as what would be known as sith lords. If you read the Thrawn Trilogy you will take notice to master Ce'Broeth or something like that, now, he uses lightning, clearly a darkside matter. However, he is not of the sith. He is merely a dark jedi. (or as i saw it a Jedi who just went crazy)

I'll back Flash and cM@D there.
Sith are trained differently.
Whilst Dark Jedi are simply Jedi Knights who fell to the Dark Side.

I think you guys are mixing up the Sith/Dark Jedi thing. After Episode VI, the Sith were extinct. Then there were only Jedi who fell to the Dark Side, becoming Dark Jedi, not Sith. And Dark Jedi aren't limited to pairs.:)

i also think the same goes for Maul and Obiwan... Just that Maul was surprised from the jump. If only Maul had an average IQ, and not a negative, he would have beaten ObiWan as well!!! His face was like :S when he saw ObiWan jumping above him!!! grrrrrr

It depends on your outlook on the Force, I would imagine. If you are talking about it in a strict martial sense, yes the darkside would be stronger, as the lightside doesn't incorporate offensive moves with use of the Force. The extent they really go with it is a force push.

In terms of raw power, I don't believe either side is stronger so to speak. They are just focused differently, light side with more passive moves and such, and dark more aggressive based.

If they had a contest to see who could meditate the longest, im sure the light siders would win hehe.

The fights with lightsabers aren't really a tribute to dark or light side ability. Someones fighting ability is generally the deciding factor, although the Force does play a part there. I have no doubts that Dooku would have defeated both obiwan and anakin even without use of the darkside, he was simply a better saberist. Same goes for Maul against Quigon.

I could smack some of you.

Why? I'll tell you.

Luke was too enraged when he smoked Vader. Watch the movie and look at his face as he hacks off Vader's hand.

Second, the Sith only do the Master/Apprentice thing because of one thing: The Great Sith War. There used to be thousands of Sith, but they turned on each other and slaughtered themselves. Thereafter, it was decided that there would only be two, in order to hide the Sith from the Jedi until it was time to take over.

Dark Side is the way to be. Now stop denying it before I choke you! :empire:

Luke Beat Vader when he was enraged. But can you prove that he woudn't have beat him anyway?
He wasn't losing to Vader when they were fighting.
If fact, he got one over on Vader by kicking him down a staircase.
It would be wrong to assume that Luke beat Vader because he was enraged (thus using the Dark Side). You might say that he beat him FASTER than he would normally have BECAUSE of the Dark side. Which is what the Dark side is all about - The Faster Way to do it.

People do not fear the Light Siders because they are there to protect. Why fear something that is there to help you?

You will never see a Light Sider taking over the Galaxy because the Light side is there to protect it, not pWn it.

The reason Dark Siders look calm in Battle is because they THINK that their power is far superior to his/her opponents. Why fear something that you beleive to be less powerfull than you?
Whereas the Light Siders just fight naturally.

People turn to the Dark side for VERY different reasons...
Most of them are mere Padawans who have not learned the passive, patient ways of the Jedi, and therefore feel they need to advance faster.
Or the Temptation of Power lures them across.

Others do it to benefit others without realising it's lure.
Take Dooku for example. He was a Jedi Master before he turned, not a Padawan. He felt that the use of the Dark Side would benefit his peers and help defeat the orders opposers in a faster manner. But the sheer temptation of the Darkside's promise of Ultimate power eventually lured him to use it for his own selfish ends and therefore he became the Dark and Evil man that he was.
In the EU, Luke Skywalker turned to the Dark Side because he felt that by doing so, he could Liquidate it from the inside, rather than directly fighting it as a Jedi. But, like Dooku, he fell to it's temptations. But was eventually turned back to the Light by Mara Jade.

In conclusion.
There is no "Stronger" side to the Force. It's pretty much an equal balance between Light and Dark. For every Dark Ability, there is a Light ability that can nullify it (Yoda and Obi-Wan Absorbing Dooku's Lightning attacks). And vice-versa. The only reason so many people THINK the Dark Side is more powerfull is because of its Physical attacks.
Whereas the Light Side focusses on Meditation, Peace and Skill. Which combined can conjour masses of strength and skill over a period of time. As this is not physically apparant, like the use of Lightning to fry an opponent. People see that Dark Side as much more powerfull, when this is simply not the case.

If you know both, then you are more powerful. Lucas said that the greed for more power, will be to go over to the darkside because it is more powerful.
