Greetings everyone... I have noticed several things over the last few days and finally things came to ahead tonight on the JA server. I have noticed over the past few days there have been alot of folks who are not curtious, rude to others, inconsiderate, and have shown a complete disreguard for our rules of order. This was never more apparent than tonight. They were heated arguments flying around and Luke was doing all he could do to calm everyone down. There were even comments made about the way he was trying to defuse the situation. It troubled me greatly until I finally called it a night and logged off. First off I think we all need to ask ourselves why we joined the Academy. If you are like me I joined to meet and be apart of something that aggreed with my ideals. Friends helping friends and to enjoy the better parts of the game. I did not join the Academy just to have another server to hop on when all the others were full, nor did I join to pop on now and then to gimp and lame others just to get a laugh. I joined the academy because I thought the code would make for intresting play and the challenge of meeting others and making friends. I have met many great folks that are apart of the Academy and I know there are many more out there I have yet to meet in game and I look forward to that. Now some have argured that the rise in discord is due to not having this or not having that...the styles are unbalanced...etc..etc.., but the truth is we have those among us whom for whatever reason just do not want to get along. Is it because they are bored with the game and just want to ruin it for others? Do they just like raising hell and causing discord for kicks? Or do they just simply lack the morals and ethics that the majority of decent folks have? Whichever case you fall under please evaluate the reasons you joined the Academy and make sure you joined for the right reasons. The Academy asked nothing of you but to follow simple and ethical codes. In return you get access to a server which 9/10 times is open and up for you to join and enjoy yourself on. They also provide training from those that have been playing sometime and know the tricks of the trades so to speak. The least anyone could do is show respect..... If you want to be respected by others be resepectable. Respect and status is not owed to anyone it is earned. I am a humble but reasonable person that tries to think of everyone I ask nothing of anyone I would not do myself, nor do I treat anyone the way I would not like to be treated.... all that is asked for the good of the Academy is that you at least do the same. Go easy on the JAK,JAT,JAC they are trying to help as many of us as they can and they are human no matter how good Luke is with that saber of his... And most of all they have feelings too. Please remeber at all times that the other characters on the screen are not just a skin/bots but another person, an every person has feelings. Its a game and the Academy gives those whom have a common intrest a chance to meet others like themselves and have fun. Its everyones duty to see that our rules of order are observed. Its everyones duty to stand up for your fellow Students,padawans,knights,etc... when they are being treated poorly.... We each have something wonderful to contribute lets make sure we do just that. I'm with Odan on this one. I chose the JA to learn and also to be part of a community that has structure. The rules around here aren't because someone got a bug up their rear. They are there to provide a more organized experience to the game. I spent a few days on the public servers and couldn't figure out what was going on, why i kept getting force gripped into pits/lava/everything else. The language was awful; kinda like being in an AOL/Yahoo chatroom. I have seen some of these people on our servers, they either need to conform, start taking prozak, or get out. They diminish what can be done in the time spent on the servers because the rest of us are trying to control or calm them down and explain that isn't how we do things here. You must remember however that it isn't just the JAC, JAT, and JAK's problem to take care of. We all must confront and help control this problem or it will over run us like when a child does something wrong and is no told that it is wrong. Since I arrived in here only a few days ago I haven't faced yet such behaviors. But for sure I do agree with Vlad about the reasons that made me choose this place, as a haven for playing. Rules prevents us from outsiders that don't seem to care about others well-being and also guide us all to treat each other with respect and kindness. Why do u think they wouldn't accept the offers? The answer is simple, it is THEIR responsability, the knights have a job to do and that is to find the origin of the problem and to isolate it and to let our students continue sharing the joy of the game with the other students! Of course they may occasionally let a student in to assist but then again, occasionally. Have patience, once we'll get our powers back u'll see we can do our job just fine. My meaning was less about laming and more to remind folks that we all matter and we all can make a diffrence in any situation. Destiny is a wonderous thing.... for it can be molded by your deeds and the deeds of others. We are all part of something greater than ourselves.... but less we forget most of all that we as individuals shape the destiny of the Academy and all within. Of course we can help stop them. I'm not sure what Vlad saw, but for the 8 months I've been here, whenever someone is misbehaving, the others would enforce the rules. And when a JAK/JAT is on, they'd offer to assist them in stopping the laming. (The JAKs/JATs never accepted the offers. ) I was just a bit annoyed because it seemed that Vlad was saying that no one helps the ranked members, when we help them all the time. |

Not Here, you are probably right, that the ones who lame the most will not listen or even read this post. But the fact that you said that this is a "Pointless Post". Although his grammar isn't perfect, he is asking why lamers are lame, and saying to the lamers/bad people to stop doing whatever they are doing wrong and behave, and like I said, they don't care. Whether he meant it to be or not, the main part of the post is directed to those rule-breakers. Other people could come in and learn something from this, and that probably was his main intention. And Mace, do you have a problem with me voicing my opinion? Vlad is voicing his own opinion and you aren't saying anything negative to him. Just because you don't agree with me doesn't give you the right to tell me that I'm wrong and I'm not considering anything about this post. |

Nice post, I don't have much to say cause you guys stole everything I was gonna say, jk There are lots of new people playing on the servers and there are LOTS of attitude going on. Courtesy is a must at this current time. Also, think bout this, the people laming/cursing ect ect don't come to these forums and read. The people posting and reading here are the concerned ppl that dont deliberately break the rules (I think). Vladarion: In behalf of the JATS, JACS and JAKS, thank u very much! Deathstar, there is no reason why u should keep my name a secret. I agree with u that my action to report u was premature, so i decided not to do that as u have noticed. Furthermore i'd like to add that there is nothing i should apologize for, not if u think what was the base of our discussion. I simply mentionned (and i was speaking in general at the time) that gameplay, especially the duelling, will get a lot more realistic when the release of the official JK3 patch will take place. We had the same situation with JK2, sometimes when duelling a mere touch of the saber could take more than half of your HP. After the patch was released gaming became more realistic and a lot of gamers out there were satisfied to a much greater extent. Your first reaction was the following: "skill matters too", though i wasn't talking about anyone's skill here. The bottom line however is that u should never EVER question a knight's wisdom or his/her opinion OR skill. Every knight has been handpicked by the Jedi Academy Council based on a severe list of demands and they all do a great job and sometimes have a hard time doing that. U'll only experience that once u become one. I've been member of the JA since August 2002, if u'll check my id (i've learned that u know php), u'll notice it's been a while that i have known the game... Other than that u'll have no trouble with me at all, actually i have quite some allies here at the academy to proove that. There's just one thing that u must realize and comprehend and that's sometimes JAT's JAC's OR JAK's may handle a situation poorly... they too are human. Few thing you are going to have to keep in mind. First of all, the players coming to the Academy are most likely players that have spent a majority of thier time on the public servers and are used to a no-holds-barred Free For All, thus, you cannot expect them to behave orderly and respectfully. Second, it has been my experience that a great deal of players hardly chat but will fight and not stop. These players are young, immature and will constantly yell 'Cheater!' whenever they get beaten by a bot. Thirdly, and very importantly, there is not a functional administration mod running on the servers in order to enforce the rules and allow the Knights Trainers and staff to enforce the rules. This is a situation that c1 is (hopefully) working to ratify. All in all, you must demand patience, and then, restraint of yourself. Then you may demand restraint of others. My former Master (Bubu) used to take fiZZ and I on 'feild trips' to the public servers to show us not only the skill and caliber of players that we sometimes face online, but to also give us a model of what to do when we get mad or frustrated at another player we might encounter. _______________ I'm crazy, not stupid. |

Yeah, I was there at the time as well, Vlad. Hiya again Just want to second most of what Vlad the Lad said, but more importantly point out how well Luke responded...he didn't attack (unless he PM'd them, LOL) or insult, but pointed out and warned. He did the job of a JAT, simply enough. Kudos to him.... There were some others there that also tried to help, and calm the...rebels , j/k.....down, but I don't think they made much difference.Ah well, I do think that it's easy for us to see the bad, but on the other hand I believe DB took two new players to the classes and gave them some pointers. For every irritating new person, I've seen one that isn't, and that has a degree of integrity. They will probably stay, and the others will leave/be kicked/be banned, or they will learn and improve... Every player that must be banned by the JACs is a potential loss. Their will always be some that aren't willing to empathise, but some may just have had a bad day, and may just have had one too many newbie questions replied with 'RTFM' or 'BUSY AT MO.' I may not know much (waits for Aratan or Jello to agree... ) but I try (operative word, LOL) to pass on what I do.This is the way it should be, even and especially for JAS/JAP/JAAs. We were JASs not too long ago, y'know. We should sympathise somewhat. Still, I agree that some players do not have a basic level of respect for those around them.
