i wanted to call this the "official" JA logo contest, but i think i should get a JAC blessing first

(edit: yea, got DJ's blessing!)

anyway, we now have a Logo Contest folder on our msn groups collection. so get out your copy of illustrator, photoshop, corel draw, ms paint, or whateva you got, and give it a rip.

also if anyone wants to submit something but is too lazy to sign up for the ja photo collection group then just e-mail it to me and i'll post it for you. (please keep the size reasonable.)

i put in a few images i knocked out a while back for the JAA when aphex was making that site. nothing fantastic mind you. please feel free to post stuff for feedback and comments from the public here

Well we've discussed it. Thanks for waiting everyone. I'll be frank. None of the entries really caught our eye. SO... This poll has the top five entries. We're going to leave a poll open for one week. The winner of this poll will work into their design into something we want to have on our stuff and work it into a format that can work with cafe press. Here are the entries. Now get to voting.

To sweeten the deal a little.. the winner of this gets one free item ordered form our new store with YOUR logo on it. This can be a shirt, mug, thong, lunchbox, or whatever.

I don't want a logo that shouts "HEY LADIES DONT COME NEAR THIS ONE! HE'S A JEDI". I like minimalism in a logo design. Some tidbits.

here are some ground rules approved by DJ_Sith himself:

1. DO NOT use any copyrighted material. this means, no in-game screens of any Jedi Knight stuff. It would be ideal that whatever you create is all your own stuff. Also, be aware of any copyright issues on fonts you may have downloaded or acquired. Most font makers will let you use them however you like, they just like to know when they get used on something that's getting produced. DJ cannot stress how much he doesn't want you to use copyrighted stuff, so DON'T DO IT!

2. Make sure the idea (logo/text etc.) is reproducible at a high resolution for printing. (I.e. don't make a small image that looks good on the screen but will get all blurry and crap when blown up to a decent size and put on a T-shirt.) The ideal final format will be EPS, PDF, or some vector graphic format for ease of scaling.

3. The logo will go on a white (or light colored) background primarily, check the CafePress site for a full list of products. http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/products/viewall.aspx (Ideally the logo should have NO background to it, but for preview purposes, please put it on top of white.)

4. The idea behind the logo is that it be in line with a corporate identity. I.e. meaning this logo can stand alone or have supporting text. It should look good when reproduced at a variety of sizes, from a bumper sticker to a wall poster.

5. The JAC's would like to see a variety of quality ideas, so treat this initial go around as brainstorming session. DJ and the JAC's have very high standards that they'd like to see upheld by representing the JA with a design that can stand next to the classic logos of our time (the NFL, yes the national football league, is actually a good place to look at how logos today can become powerful iconic statements. For example, compare the new Patriots logo to the old one. http://www.logoserver.com/NFL.html Newer logos such as the Texans, Falcons, Titans, and Patriots show how a logo can be relatively simple, yet make a bold statement.) Ideas will be refined and developed by anyone that wishes. The final decision does lie in the hand of the JAC's. But as usual they listen to everyones' thoughts

I think #5 is one of the most creative ideas, when I first saw it I loved it. But something I want to remind the JA is that if these logos were put on an item and sold for $ - no matter what the intentions - there could be legal consequences for using something so similar to the trademarked logo for Major League Baseball.

The following are trademarks or service marks of Major League Baseball entities and may be used only with permission of Major League Baseball Properties, Inc. or the relevant Major League Baseball entity: Major League, Major League Baseball, MLB, the silhouetted batter logo, World Series, National League, American League, Division Series, League Championship Series, All-Star Game, and the names, nicknames, logos, uniform designs, color combinations, and slogans designating the Major League Baseball clubs and entities, and their respective mascots, events and exhibitions.

Which sucks cause I think no harm would come to MLB for it, but I would hate to see the JA get in trouble.

I think everybody should take a look on #2!!!
I <3 it.. I mean, just by changing the font a little, and maybe making those borders around the font a little thinner that would make an awesume logo.. And this was not the final logo we're going to choose, as DJ said it's gonna be worked on by the JAC's and the artist him/herself, so I suggest you vote on THAT basis, not on how they look like now, but on the concept/idea and meaning.. that's the most important imho..

Like I said, this is NOT the best version of my logo, I was about to take the "goth-letters" off the logo and make some other improvements on it, but I didn't have enough time.. I made a quick pic about how it could look on a t-shirt, and I believe this is more of that kinda logo we all want!!!

And yeah, this is not my best version either.. I was thinking about making it a bit more simple by taking the useless texts off.. not the URL though.. anyway, hope you like it, vote it!!

er, just a quick thought Flash, this NOT the rebel alliance logo. It's true that I took inspiration from it, but I designed the entire logo on my own, I didn't use any SW material.
And yeah, it looks like the Alliance logo, but it's also different if you look closely. The shape is slightly different.
Anyway, I did not designed it thinking that the JA is 'alliance' oriented, I just thought it would look good this way
