The Aurochs: News, Results and Updates thread.

Welcome to the Aurochs news, results and updates thread. The Aurochs are aware that in the past, unless you guys go out of your way to find out, its been difficult to know whats going on with your local team, The Jedi Academy Aurochs. The odd thread has been made with results of recent matches, but those are few and far between. In fact, most JA members aren't aware that we match several times a week. We decided that the easiest way to let you know of the latest goings-on is a thread which we will endeavour to keep up to date with (as the title suggests) results, updates and general news about the 'rochs.

For those of you who dont know who we are, the Aurochs are the competitive team of the JA. We take part in competitive TFFA's both within and without of the ESL, and by doing so we aim to promote the values of fairness and fairplay, and the JA itself. We are the only remaining highly competitive saber team that is non poke/wiggle. Over recent years we have also assisted with TFFA classes at the JA, so if you are interested in improving your own skill in this gametype, be sure to check the classes page to see what TFFA classes are running. For a little history and some more in-depth explanation of who we are and what we're about, please visit our wiki entry on the Archives here.

Most of our matches are part of the ESL TDM ladder. For those curious or who wish to follow our progress in the ladder, our team page with all our results is located here.

Our server info is located on our forums in this thread, and also on the server page on theja.net website. When we are not matching, any students are of course welcome to use them. However non-members of the JA may occasionally frequent the servers for practice etc, so if you 100% dont want to game with non-members, best bet is to stick to the Academy's servers. Although the password on the server page is usually up to date, it may occasionally be different, so if you can't get in the best way to get the pass is to contact us on irc channel #ja-aurochs. This is also the quickest way to contact an aurochs for any reason you may need to, but of course our profiles or e-mails are suitable ways to contact us, as well as our forums.

Anyways, we will try to keep this thread as up to date as we can, hopefully one or two of you will be interested :)

'Roch on,

The Jedi Academy Aurochs

Edit: We will not use this thread for tryout related discussion, the Auroch's own forums are the best place for that :).

Just a quick update for you guys :)

Things have been kinda quiet for the aurochs over the last few weeks, due to a few factors. We havent played any esl matches but are now coming out of the quiet phase and setting up a few in the coming weeks, as well as a non-esl match with a well-known clan which should be good fun.

Unfortunately Ðark has left the JAA esl team due to commitments with his clan O³. He is still a proud Auroch, but cant play in our esl matches, which is a definite blow. However Ðark has kindly offered to help with our new training system that will be in place shortly, which should be a great help, particularly for less experienced Aurochs such as myself.

In other news, the Aurochs now have a PUG server. Those of you who have played competitively in any fps game should know what this is, but for those that dont, you can find the details here. We hope to see plenty of JA students there :D. If you find it difficult to get enough players for a decent match, hop onto #ja-aurochs where a few words will normally get you at least a couple of people ready to go. (In fact, join our channel anyway, its the most full of <3 channel evar ;))

We will post results of the matches when they happen, in the meantime, take care and hf.

Your Friendly Aurochs had yet another match today, against some of our toughest competition yet, p3-gamings second squad.

The Aurochs came away with a bad taste in they're mouths after this one, having played somewhat below expectations. The boys in green realize that they made mistakes and are, of course, working tirelessly to improve. p3g took this one but the Aurochs have a posititve attitude and fully believe that they will be back and better than ever in the next meeting.

first round on euro server, the absense of Dark hurt us here muchly.

2nd round fought in the US, the aurochs edged a slight advantage here, but it was too little, too late as the p3g'ers emerged victorius overall.

Good Game, Well Played all :)

Our opponent, Nemain, mostly consisted of some ex-Leisure squad players. Leisure, being the old #1 of the ESL TDM ladder meant that this match had the potential of being a real hard match for the Aurochs. However, as Gil has said, we played very well overall, with our ESL winning spree showing our recent, excellent form which includes a page full of recent wins for us (eek =o).

Good game there guys and i would also like to add a new (non-official but might go official soon :O who knows), Man of the match sub-acheivment, where this match the first rightful winner being: Gil-Galad, who put in a very consistant and impressive overall performance throughout the match. Well done Gil, and more importantly, keep it 'Roching guys!

Y hallo thar! Tonight the Aurochs faced off against another euro team in the ESL TDM ladder called Nemain. They are a new team to the league, so we didn't really know what to expect from them.

Our lineup for the first round was myself, Ðark, and Masta/P!ng. They put out two staffers and a single user. It was close for about ten minutes, but due to some awesome team work, we managed to pull away a bit. This was also partly thanks to Ðarks battle comms over teamspeak. Playing on FFA2 we were able to utilise the map areas well to our purposes throughout the round, keeping them staffers at bay.

In the second round they kept the same lineup, and we switched Masta with Kain. Kain got an unlucky start to the round, including a couple of tks which were entirely his teammates fault. We went behind for the first few minutes, and due to Kains ability to stay focused despite the bad start, we pulled it back and came away with the win.

End of Round Screenshots:

Round 1

Round 2

Overall we are pretty pleased with the result, we really feel this euro team is beginning to gel, so #3 is looking more and more realistic for us :)
