The Aurochs: News, Results and Updates thread.

Welcome to the Aurochs news, results and updates thread. The Aurochs are aware that in the past, unless you guys go out of your way to find out, its been difficult to know whats going on with your local team, The Jedi Academy Aurochs. The odd thread has been made with results of recent matches, but those are few and far between. In fact, most JA members aren't aware that we match several times a week. We decided that the easiest way to let you know of the latest goings-on is a thread which we will endeavour to keep up to date with (as the title suggests) results, updates and general news about the 'rochs.

For those of you who dont know who we are, the Aurochs are the competitive team of the JA. We take part in competitive TFFA's both within and without of the ESL, and by doing so we aim to promote the values of fairness and fairplay, and the JA itself. We are the only remaining highly competitive saber team that is non poke/wiggle. Over recent years we have also assisted with TFFA classes at the JA, so if you are interested in improving your own skill in this gametype, be sure to check the classes page to see what TFFA classes are running. For a little history and some more in-depth explanation of who we are and what we're about, please visit our wiki entry on the Archives here.

Most of our matches are part of the ESL TDM ladder. For those curious or who wish to follow our progress in the ladder, our team page with all our results is located here.

Our server info is located on our forums in this thread, and also on the server page on theja.net website. When we are not matching, any students are of course welcome to use them. However non-members of the JA may occasionally frequent the servers for practice etc, so if you 100% dont want to game with non-members, best bet is to stick to the Academy's servers. Although the password on the server page is usually up to date, it may occasionally be different, so if you can't get in the best way to get the pass is to contact us on irc channel #ja-aurochs. This is also the quickest way to contact an aurochs for any reason you may need to, but of course our profiles or e-mails are suitable ways to contact us, as well as our forums.

Anyways, we will try to keep this thread as up to date as we can, hopefully one or two of you will be interested :)

'Roch on,

The Jedi Academy Aurochs

Edit: We will not use this thread for tryout related discussion, the Auroch's own forums are the best place for that :).

Eica, this isn't the place to advertise and such. Please wait. If an Auroch feels you are prepared for this re-tryout, he will sponsor you. No need to mention it outside of your tryout thread on the Auroch forums. ;)

Earlier tonight the aurochs had an ESL match against a team called Best. Best are currently ranked approx 16th in the ESL, and are a polish team. Luckily Ðark was able to make it to this one, and he played alongside Kain, Masta, and JAA triallist Fox.

In the first round on Bests server, the Aurochs had problems, and although led at points in the round, this was taken back and Best won the round by two frags.

Despite the loss the Aurochs decided not to change the lineup for the second round on Jaktorow. Straight from the beginning the Aurochs dominated the round, with Ðark particularly playing well. They led the entire time and due to some excellent teamwork managed to do enough to bring in the win.

End of round screenshots:

Round 1

Round 2

This actually put the Aurochs in #3 in the ladder for a short time, but an impressive win by 333 over current #2 holders nL meant they soon reclaimed the position. It is very close though, and upcoming matches against 333 and p3g's B team will really test us out and make or break our attempt at #3 spot.

Ok so to kick us off, we had an esl match earlier today. It was a 3v3 and the lineup was myself, Masta, and one of our triallists Sneezilla. They are ranked somewhat further down in the ladder than us, but in the ESL that isnt always an indication of a teams skill. We are currently missing our top performer euro side, Ðark, and we started before one of our other first choice players, Kain, could get there.

They put out one staffer, one single user who used almost only yellow, and another who switched between all three. Due to some complacency on our parts, we managed to lose the first round by five frags. Both teams used the same players in the second round, and we focussed down and after a tense first ten minutes, pulled away a little to bring home the big W.

End of round screenshots:

Round 1
Round 2

This keeps us in fourth place in the ladder. However with Ðark afk for a few weeks and some tough matches upcoming, its gonna take some real effort to hold onto it, and even more to aim for that #3 spot.
