Fifth Anniversary Tournament | |
Dash Starlight - Jedi Instructor |
Welcome to the Fifth Anniversary Tournament! During the past few weeks you have had the chance to sign up for this. Now that you have done so, I have created the brackets.
Fith Anniversary Tournament Brackets over here. Please check the brackets carefully. I have divided the participants into two groups: the US and EU group. They will first duel amongst themselves, then the winner of each group will duel each other in the finale. There is a chance, however, that I have put someone from the US in the EU group or vice versa. If so, please let me know before Monday, June 11th, because that's when the tournament will be launched officially. Dates and structure. Please complete the duels in the format below. ROUND ONE (June 11th - June 18th) Best of 5. 2xNF, 2xFF, 1xNF. ROUND TWO (June 18th - June 25th) Best of 5. 2xNF, 2xFF, 1xNF. ROUND THREE (June 25th - July 2nd) Best of 7. 2xNF, 2xFF, 2xNF, 1xFF. ROUND FOUR (July 2nd - July 9th) Best of 7. 2xNF, 2xFF, 2xNF, 1xFF. ROUND FIVE (July 9th - July 16th) Best of 9. 2xNF, 2xFF, 2x NF, 2xFF, 1xNF. Rules. Rule #1: All matches must have a referee. This can be anyone inside the Jedi Academy community, but only with the consent of both duellers. Rule #2: The following attack(s) is not allowed: Spinning. Rule #3: Contact your opponent as soon as possible. Rule #4: In case there is no duel, it is up to the referee who proceeds, based on the amount of effort the duellers have put in to arrange a match. The one having made the most effort will advance. Rule #5: Complete the duels in the prescribed order. The tournament will be launched next Monday, June 11th. This is a Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast tournament. Results and demos can be posted in the Fith Anniversary Tournament - Results Only thread. (Demos are not mandatory, but they will come in handy in case a duel needs to be checked afterwards for any given reason. It's fun as well to simply watch duels again or handy to watch the tournament if you weren't able to see it on the server.) Contacting your opponent. Post on each other's profile to find a time and a place for the duel. Make sure you arrange for a referee as well. If there is no duel the referee will decide who advances. If there are no arrangements whatsoever by the time the round's deadline expires (not even a referee) I shall see if anyone is in title to advance. If not, both are disqualified. I suppose that covers it all, at least for now. I wish each of the participants good luck and most importantly, a lot of fun! _______________ The name is Bond. James Bond. Don't see the problem in 1 Euro - US fight, it's not THAT hard to arrange. |

Quote: I don't get it. There are 6 BYEs, why not place those that got one against each other? Smiley and saz are both in different timezone-brackets - seperating the players into brackets according to their timezones was how dash originally intended it to be.
Moving the other 2 matches from round2 to round1 would result in the round1 victor receiving a bye in round2, making him advance to round3 etc. So in the end it really doesn't matter if they get a bye now or in round2. _______________ Find out more about the Jedi Academy Aurochs here and more about Masta here! Well, I put everyone into two groups, a EU (14) and US group (12). It turned out someone from the EU group was in the wrong group and should be in the US group.
I could just put him in the US group and give him a pair of BYEs, but that wouldn't be fair to anyone. To make it fair, everyone should have the same chance to get a BYE. That's why I used a random number generator (like the first time) to reorder all the matches, so everyone has a fair chance to get a BYE. It turned out that with 13 people, the 13th person would get two BYEs, not one. I thought that wasn't completely fair, either, as the 13th person would automitically move to round 3. So I gave numbers 11, 12 and 13 a BYE. It results in 6 BYEs to start with, but then again, they will advance just 1 round. I apologize for any inconvenience, but it's the best of all options that I could think of. So yeah, that explains the high amount of BYEs and why you are facing a different opponent now. Don't worry about any more changes; this is the final version of the brackets. _______________ The name is Bond. James Bond. This comment was edited by Dash Starlight on Jun 12 2007 08:06am. |

* The Fifth Anniversary is launched officially *
As of today, you can all contact your opponent to schedual a suitable time. Then get on the JKII server and have a blast playing JKII again Please check the new brackets, by the way. I had to reposition each of you, because I had placed Rin_Mintaka in the wrong group. I could just put him in the US group and give him a pair of BYEs, but that's not exactly fair lol. So yeah, check out who your opponent is, contact him/her as soon as you can and get the duels going please! Good luck and better yet, have fun! _______________ The name is Bond. James Bond. I wouldn't be too sure, we are talking about a REAL game here, not JK:JA *EDIT* Just to avoid misunderstanding, I wasn't referring to the fact that I'd win, just that being good in JK:JA doesn't mean jack, as JK2 and JK:JA are very different. i think rin is from us? Yup, I posted a comment on his profile. - Rin This could mean that I need to re-order both groups when everybody's in the right place, though. For example, I could just put Rin's name in the US group and give him a BYE, but that wouldn't be completely fair. So yeah, I'm gonna edit the brackets to have everything up & running properly by Monday. I'm sorry for any inconvenience, like, you all just found out who you're gonna duel, got excited, then everything's gonna change again.. heh. _______________ The name is Bond. James Bond. One small remark: I've made it into a single elimination tourney, because a double elimination version would be very complex..
