Me being me, was having a few silly thoughts this afternoon and came up with an idea to make a Single Player Level based around the Academy. Got great ideas for the level, although I havn't thought up a story line for it yet. But basically, I'mma make it so that you play a New Student to the Academy training with a JAT when something terrible happens, blah, blah, blah. I'm gonna be making loads of new skins for it, including the player skin (Let's face it, playing as Kyle in this scenario would be NO FUN!). This way, as you make your way through the Academy, you will meet and interact with several existing Academy members, like DJ Sith or Luke Skywalker. Even good old Jakey boy. Each member will hopefully be individually voiced. I'mma try and implement some helpful tips reguarding MP Playing and such, but the level will really just be for fun. What do you guys think? Good Idea? If so, tell me - What would you like to see in the level? What kind of situations shall we put the player through? And also, any good ideas for a storyline would be great. I have heard a rumour that JA will be coming out November 1st. So that gives me a couple months to get this project completed. But I don't intend for it to take THAT long. I think I may end up using the Imps as enemies. But as for using the default JO Skins for the good guys - That would also be far too boring. The point for making this level was so that actual academy members could participate / be in it. And that's part of the fun of it. I may use stormies, but come up with a few new Dark Jedi to use instead of the Reborn/Shadowtroopers. There may be a few default JO Jedi/Trainers running around, Luke Skywalker will probably want his skin to be Luke Skywalker, so you will be seeing quite a few JO skins in there. But you'll also be seeing new ones. I.E - SOME of the members of the Academy. - Virtue. _______________ Academy Architect |

I think all default skins should be used  Make the playable charater a normal jedi, have some trainers running about, other jedi skins, hidden jedi skin. hehe, two things: this mod is for the academy, so I'd say, why not keep it to the academy? I'd suggest to let (at least big parts) of the story happen in the JA itself. as you said, rebs vs imps is a bit old. you have to decide. either you want a fun level (aka, DJ wants to kill doobie ) or you want a serious level (aka imps vs rebs, but a bit boring).you pick _______________ Aeth S'kray *June 2002 +September 2003 |

Hehe.... here's a good idea. Basically, it's kinda stolen from the Dark Rival star wars comic... hehe: You come to the academy, and a good Jedi Master selects u for his padawan... U (and ur master) r sent to a mission on another planet, where ur master (accidentaly) runs into his old padawan who fell to the dark side (VERY much like the Dark Rival, where QuiGon met Xanatos)... The mission, anyway, is to go to a negotiation between 2 governments, where u (and ur Master) and stop any fights that might happen during the negotiation. As a surpirise, ur master's older paddy shows up as the negotiator of one of the two countries. A huge fight starts during the negotiation, and ur master goes down there to try to bring the peace back. However, he makes u stay there. WHen everything/everyone calms down, ur master has mysteriously disappeared (he was kidnapped by his older paddy). U get to find him then... After a HUGE search, u find him sitting in a cell where his force abilities r disabled... To free him, u need to get the key; though its carrier is his older padawan, who shows up behind u with his red lightsaber ----------end of story------------- this story could be several levels, maybe JK4:The past attacks.... hehe! however; u have to find a name for the hero, his master and the master's older padawan... plz IF u choose this story, make ME the master's old padawan!!! _______________ Your friends of today, are your enemies of tomorrow. |

******STORY****** ok this is like aeth's, but more detail. you start out by joining the academy, maybe some duels, etc until you get a master (someone powerful). then ur master is out on a mission when the academy is stormed by (you pick the enemy). so eveyone retreats underground, where they hole up. they realize they have no supplies/food and cant fight their way out (for some reason or the other). then you volunteer to try to get out and bring your master back to deal with the situation (very powerful, remember - think like gandalf is to LOTR, dumbledore to HP). problem is. ships are on the roof/top level or sumthin. then you have to make your way to the top, bring your master back, take out the bad guy in charge of all this.... _______________ Personal body guard to teh 1337 Jacen Aratan! Righty-Ho. New breakthrough here. I'm going to attempt to put forward some solutions to the problems presented in this thread thus far, and answer some questions that some people have asked. Here Goes: GHarris put forward a good point reguarding the amount of MBs that can be used for voice/custom sounds in a SP level. Although the gentleman he referred to may have been a pretty decent Mapper, from what I have gathered he attempted to make one large SP level complete with custom conversations and sounds. Now, think back to when you were playing Single Player JO. The whole game itself contains ALOT of dialogue and sounds, but it was spread over a vast amount of levels. And since all of the Vocalisations in SP are in MP3 format, you can't tell me that each INDIVIDUAL SP Level in Jedi Outcast exceeded approximatly 5MB of Sound Space. This is what I am going to do. I shall make a few maps for this particular SP mod, each with different Academy Members in it and each with different Sound files. They will then all be linked together using Scripts and packed up into one Sexeh, Shagadelic PK3 file for you lovely people to download. Example - Map 1: The Starting Map, Our Hero arrives at the Academy, has a convo with a JAT, is then told to go to the Elevator on the other side of the map which will take him up to the next floor of the Academy. On his way, he may shoot stormtroopers, saber a Reborn and even work out a few puzzles. When he reaches the Elevator, the level ends, like in JO, you'll see your level stats - How many people you killed, what your most used weap was etc etc. After this, the loading screen will start for Map 2. When done loading, the player finds himself on the Second floor of the Academy, ready to make his way through. So yeah, making one very large SP map with many custom sounds would be a problem. But not if you cut it into smaller pieces and link them all together. ------------------------------------------------- Our Hero (The Player): The Player will be nameless throughout the entire scenario. However, He/She may be refered to as "Padawan" or "Young Jedi" by many of the NPCs (existing members) that you will encounter. The Player will not embody any existing member of the Academy. However, a Member of the Academy may wish to provide the Voice for Our Hero (not yet decided). -------------------------------------------------- The Cast List: I will be making a thread reguarding members who may wish to appear in the level in the very near future. Anyone who wants to be included would do well do post a reply on it with some info that I will be asking for in the main thread. Bare in mind that each member will need to be individually Skinned and Voiced, and this will take some time, therefore, unfortunatly not all members will be appearing due to deadlines. -------------------------------------------------- The Storyline: As stated before. The storyline hasn't been set in stone yet. I have my own ideas about what I want in the level, but as I said before, I don't want this to be "Virtue Wars". The map MUST have elements that everybody would like to see. People have thus far put together nice little stories that could potentially be used in the level. More ideas are both welcome and needed. Let me just state that this level must be to SOME extent original. So let's steer clear of the old 'Rebs Vs. Imps' ding dong. However, it would be easier on myself if the main enemy was the Empire, as then I wouln't have to spend months designing and skinning masses of new enemies etc. I'll be having a tough enough time Mapping the whole thing and skinning all the Members that are appearing. Also, I don't really want an 'In-Academy-Conflict' scenario for this project. If there is to be an invasion, I want it to come from the outside (And I'm sure the JAC would agree with me on this). ------------------------------------------------- Help Required: A few people have asked me if there is anything they might do to help me with the production of this SP Project, and the answer is deffinatly YES!!! A am going to need Skinners, Skinners and a few Skinners to help me with.............................well...............................Skinning. LoL. If any Academy Members who happen to be good at Skinning are reading this, then I could greatly benefit from your help. As if I'm going to be doing this all on my lonesome, there is a SLIGHT chance that Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy will be released BEFORE this SP Level is. And needless to say, I'd be screwed. If I had some help, with the skinning, we could have this Mod completed in one tenth of the time. ------------------------------------------------- Sorry for my long-winded drivel. I hope this has answered some of your questions and provided info on some of the problems presented. I'll leave it to guys to critisize me now. LoL. Well I tried. You and your master are training and suddenly siths and stormtroopers attacks. You and your master fights but you get knocked down and the boss comes and kill your master. When you wake up you are in a some kind of cell and have to escape. You escape and have to free other students. When that is done you see a huge fight between a Council member and some sith knights (like Jerec and yun and those.) You run to help him, and when the sith is dead you and the council member runs to help other students. You meet a teacher that is badly wounded. He tells you that you gotta send a some kind of emergency call. So you run to the commlink there are some sith you have to fight. And when you do that you hear an explosion. You run to see what happened and there is a huge fight with teachers, knights and students against alot off siths and stormtroopers. When that battle is done the boss comes. He kills one by one until the rebel forces arrives and he flees. You run after him and you fight and he is just about to kill you when Dj Sith arrives. You fight together and the boss dies. And there is a huge party. |

Story... hm... The hero comes to the Jedi Academy and is generally told everything about it. Like we could use the level for propaganda among the community They are just shown around, maybe participate in a class, something like that.Versions a) The JA suddenly is invaded and stormtrooper + heavy weapons are landed with shuttles and transporters. Students are lead to catacombes by their teachers and uh... somehow the hero is splitted by his groupo and on his own. Poor him has to fight his way through enemy lines to reach the secret entrance to the catacombes. On his way, he meets several teacher and knight groups who regroup and defend against the invading troops. Lot's of explosives etc please. Finally the hero reaches the catacombes but hast to see that lots of the students were slain, many others disappeared. A remaining teacher tells him that they were attacked by a group of sith warriors and that he sent the students deeper into the caves to flee for them. Togteher you two fight your way through the sith, until the teacher is wounded bad and cannot follow any more. Last not least, the hero joins into a fight between some students and the boss. One by one the students are taken out and the hero is the last man standing. Dramatical fight. The hero is pushed down and somehow gets into a bad situation, like obi at the end of EP1. In the last moment, DJ Sith and Massadoobie, two old and grey jedi masters (aka yoda) come and kill the boss. The hero is made jedi knight, big party, end of story. Version b) Would be that the hero is sent on a mission with some other students and knights. They should find out what has happened to a rebel base nearby. Once they reach it, everything is dark and creepy. No enemys... add some silent whispers and scratches, generally that people start to get scared. Add nice scripts like suddenly a student is sucked into a ventilation system or something ^^ Well, let your creativity play. At the end it turns out that aliens (you know, those small spiders) landed at the base and atatcked the rebels. Last not least, the hero meets a powerfull sith lord who turns out to control the spider-aliens. Make it a big fight, with various stages. Like first, he leaves you alone with some of the aliens. Then he attacks with force and you have to dodge his attacks. Last not least the two fight a nice saber fight. I prefer version a though  _______________ Aeth S'kray *June 2002 +September 2003 |
