God forbid we compromise the SW theme. After all, this place has stopped being an 'academy' where people learn how to be better gamers (despite our credo) and more of a place to hang out with people who are interested in SW (or have been members here for a long time... and are interested in SW). It's ok to completely overhaul the way this place works, to sacrifice the structural elements that for over a decade have made this place different from clans, teams, communities and guilds, but god forbid we abandon the SW theme or try to somehow shift our focus on other fringe games.

Let's face it, JKA was a niche game to begin with - despite the apparent activity on the ESL and JA+ servers, it was still puny in comparison to basically every other major title. We never even had tournaments with proper prizes outside of the small, community-based/restricted stuff akin to TIT3. The ESL never introduced an EPS series for this game because, well, it just wasn't big enough. Other PC exclusive sword-fighting games will be pretty much just as fringe-y and I don't see anything wrong with that.

But oh hey there's TOR, right? SWG came and went, but TOR -has- to stay and we're going to go with it. It's ok that it has absolutely zero resemblence to the JK games, that it is ultimately a big grind fest where skill is more based on knowledge of the game (and ultimately your gear) rather than your ability to perform certain actions. It's ok that it is completely incompatible with the way this place works, because as long as it has the SW theme, we'll go with it. It's ok that there are multiple pretty decent alternatives that are more viable than an MMO, TOR has the support of the people, right? Of the ~14 guys who frequent this place. If they want TOR, everyone's gonna get TOR. Hey, the admins want TOR too, except for Solitude maybe.

SWG had the SW theme, but JKA was still sorta interesting back then and the game ultimately sucked after a few patches.. now that JKA has become boring, we need a different game with an SW theme. MBII was interesting enough, but it was too different, so we had to abandon this place to create a completely new academy somewhere else. I don't see why we can't do that with TOR as well.
