Under no circumstances should any member of The Jedi Academy discuss Star Wars: The Old Republic in the presence of Masta.

One dark night, Masta was raped by Star Wars: The Old Republic. But it didn't stop there. SW:TOR proceeded to rape Masta's mother, and the family dog. Upon finishing this heinous act, SW:TOR drank some milk from Masta's fridge and left the carton on the counter. These atrocities left wounds in Masta's psyche that will never truly be healed.

Please treat this issue with sensitivity and respect. Thank you.

Most highly esteemed and fearless Masta, thou art truly one exceptionally accomplished individual. Unmatched is your strength, and terrifying is your intellect, that any person foolish enough to stand in your way receives only my pity (and a swift, ungratifying death of course). Indeed, it would take both the minds and might of many men to even consider challenging your pedestal of glory, and even then, the very depths of their souls would be suffocated under the pressure of trying to rival something so immense and overwhelming. No challenge too great, no obstacle impassable, you are a being whom carves his own destiny from the fruits of this world, for how can such a being be bound by the limitations of mortal men.

Never shall your days of spark-shed and glory be forgotten either – the legends of your travels will reach the eyes and ears of mortals for hundreds of years to come, long after you have ascended from this realm of existence. My matchless brother in arms, there is none other whom I would have had by my side in the thick of a battle, thundering down relentlessly upon our enemies in a maelstrom of sparks, sweat, death and cries of anguish. If I could change one single detail regarding our days on the field, it would only be that we had more opponents with whom to prove our prowess against.

And it is with absolute certainty that I tell you, the Revelations of Masta shall never be forgotten, their legendary content awing the most accomplished of warriors. This is what men of legend are made of. Valhalla waits for you.

"Philosophy is just pipe for the misunderstanding language! Why not you realize that!"

"oh dear. He can't bare the disagreement."

:D I laughed so hard...

Yes this is exactly why I'm using the concept of philosophy on people, who are unmitigated with their opinions...

And yes long time ago, maybe Lirael or you, somebody suggested me to read wittgenstein... But I came to conlusion after few pages; Rather I read Alice In Wonderland...

Wittgenstein greatest mistake was to born in western side... He would have been happy in eastern side, especially in Zen Sanctuary... :)

Western people biggest problem is that they try to live with reason so they taught their children to live with reason... and Wittgenstein biggest problem is that he's searching a reason and thinking the nature of reason...

and this is also why I love communism, Communism doesn't try to find reason, It just suggest how you manage to live your life with other people...

Capitalism gives a reason to live and It is money, Because It gives a reason, I hate it allready, amongst other things what I hate in it... :D

I don't hate wittgenstein, I just pity him, his life has been needlessly hard, such a brilliant man born in wrong place, well he didn't waste it atleast...

So yeah I could say that I love philosophy and yes I have read Wittgenstein(still reading it) :)

I would completely agree that Maher had interpreted the phrase differently than I had if not for one simple thing: He had used asterisks to cover up the last few letters which implies that he knew it was a curse.

Although I don't look down on people who curse, I do so myself from time to time, but it is totally out of character from the discussion we were having. Although it could be normal for him to curse in discussions and I wouldn't mind that too much, but it was blatantly out of character from all the exchanges we had.

Was it an attack? Don't know, but probably not.
Was it rude? I thought it was, but maybe it isn't for him. Yet I think he realized what he was saying to a certain extent.

Truly I never wanted to make a big deal out of it, but I was just afraid our discussion would escalate to an argument.

Come now Masta, let us keep the debates individual. I don't enjoy debating directly to two people, but rather on a 1-1 basis. I barely have the time to reply to both you and Maher, but if you two begin to stack replies...it will be difficult for me to make effective rebuttals. Especially since I am not particularly educated in sociology or economics, but I enjoy the debate. Right or wrong, it's civilized exchange that I enjoy.

Quote:

Everytime i read statements like these, i truly do wonder how and why anybody would think that. I mean, where did you pick it up? Where did you read it (if at all)? In all my time studying marxism and related leftist ideologies, i have never even once encountered any of the prominent marxist writers mentioning anything concerning radical, absolute equality in the sense that you portray it. Even Marx himself openly admits the unequal nature of human beings:

“ One man is superior to another physically or mentally and so supplies more labor in the same time, or can labor for a longer time; and labor, to serve as a measure, must be defined by its duration or intensity, otherwise it ceases to be a standard of measurement. This equal right is an unequal right for unequal labor. It recognizes no class differences, because everyone is only a worker like everyone else; but tacitly recognizes unequal individual endowment and thus productive capacity as natural privileges. It is, therefore, a right of inequality, in its content, like every right.” - Karl Marx, Critique of the Gotha Program

The kind of equality that finds common reference in socialist parlance is something akin to our sense of egalitarianism, i.e. equal rights, equality infront of the law etc etc, applied to economics. This does -not- mean that everybody is going to wear the same clothes and live in the same sort of houses, but it rather implies the abolishment of the class structure that so permeates and defines capitalist societies. It is more or less the actualization of your "American Dream", minus the unfortunate structural problems that are reflected in your country's social mobility index.

Also, you seem to have confused a "social(ist)" economy with a social market economy - the former is a centrally planned economy, the latter a normal market economy with restrictions placed upon it by government, and basically the modus operandi of all modern, industrialized countries. Your attack on something i have never defended is therefore a straw man.

And well, you seem to disregard the "nurture" side of "human nature" and how our material and ideological environment can cultivate specific characteristics in a given person - granted, i'm not advocating behaviorism here, but it's crucial to understand that genetics do not define behavior to any significant degree.

Besides that, i cannot really see why you have a problem with overcoming ones own faults and relying on cooperation. I mean, it's pretty much what capitalism is all about, isn't it? Most companies nowadays value their workers capacity for teamwork greatly, nevermind the ability to -improve-, i.e. overcome ones own faults. On top of that, government has special regulations that directly restrict and even ban the possibility for cooperation between companies in certain cases, seeing as it gives so great of an advantage to a given group that it is seen as directly anti-competitive

Well I'm not that verbal guy as you are... But It is funny how samely we are interpreting Amik's comments and answering them... :D

Russian peasant: "Pssst! 'ay, komrade, I wanna talk to Lenin!"

Russian guard: "He's dead, he's laying in his coffin in the mausoleum!"

The next day, the peasant comes back and asks the same thing again...

Russian peasant: "Pssst! 'ay, komrade, I wanna talk to Lenin!"

The guard gets angry and shouts to the peasant.

Russian guard: "Lenin is dead! He can't hear ya nor talk to ya, so go home, komrade!"

The peasant goes home, but comes back the next morning and asks again. Then the guard gets mad and violently shouts at him.

Russian guard: "I told ya, Lenin is dead! Whooat the hell is wrong wit' ya, komrade? Whooay do you keep repeatin' this krap?"

Russian peasant: "'Cause it's soo good to hear that he's finally dead!"

Capitalism borrows from everything and typically contradicts its basic ideals for a simple reason: It is a humble economic belief which will emulate what others have done right as long as it is profitable. What drives us is our standing in society, or what you silly Marxists call class consciousness, and our ability to produce is far superior to our once communist rivals for this reason. We wish to increase our standing in society so we work harder, cheat on taxes, steal, invest and strangle every dollar we have. The sky is the limit, but we are tied down by a rope made of money. The more money we have, the higher we can go. Greed, my communist friend, greed is what drives us. Is this a bad thing? It has done well for us so far.

As for our medical system, it is technically sound on paper. You see, thanks to a new bill passed, people will be more inclined to have medical insurance. It is a step towards socialized medicine, yes, but allows competition and higher rise of profits. Our problem lies not within our medical policy, but our human and physical capital available for the medical field.

When a large amount of people start to obtain insurance, there will be a massive inflation in doctor salaries. We will attract more foreign doctors and build more hospitals as a result of the intensified competition. Thusly, a price war will spark which is a historical eventuality in a capitalist society. Within a decades time, the faults of our medical system will balance out if we were not to pursue universal medicine. Regretfully, the backing for universal medicine is growing and we will soon realize that our problem lies within the functional structure of the medical industry and not our naturally greedy insurance providers. Still, universal medicine would be ideal if we had the sufficient capital (ie doctors & hospitals).

I pose this question, how would a near-true communist state (as no government can be true to it's ideal model) deal with the military spending of a larger capitalist state? Wouldn't the communist state be forced to invest similar capital within their military in order to provide a deterrent effect? We are, of course, taking our respective nuclear, biological, WoMD capabilities out of the equation.
